Commute

Commute

Made and featured in the 2022 Uarts Literary Magazine. This narrative illustration depicts a road of a young girl's commute to and from her emotional support therapy she attends after the death of her mom. This story is about grief and recovery and hope. Every week she drives to and from the support group she sees the body of a deer on the side of the road. It slowly decays over her many commutes. Eventually the deer's body is completely gone, but she still notices the imprint in the grass when no one else would.
